Combine first 6 ingredients in a bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in bacon. Combine buttermilk, onions, and egg; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. (Dough will be sticky.) With floured hands, pat dough into a 9-inch square on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Cut into 12 (3-inch) squares, cutting to but not through dough. Bake at 400° for 14 minutes or until golden. Yield: 1 dozen (serving size: 1 scone).
