Whisk cornstarch, cocoa powder and salt in saucier or sauce pan. Add 1/3 cup milk and whisk until smooth.
Whisk in milk, cream and sugar over medium heat until mixture is smooth and begins to bubble. Simmer 2 minutes, whisking constantly. Off heat add vanilla. Divide among 6 bowls. Chill uncovered until cold, at least 3 hours.
