Date Walnut Bread

Directions

In bowl combine dates, baking soda and water. Let stand until cooled. Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease five 5-3/4x3-1/4-inch foil loaf pans. In bowl combine flour and salt. In mixer bowl beat eggs, sugar and vanilla just until blended. Beat in butter. Beat in dry ingredients alternately with date mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Fold in nuts. Spoon into prepared pans. Bake 40 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans on a wire Makes 5 loaves, 8 slices per loaf, 155 calories per slice. bake 16
