Ham and Broccoli Strata

Directions

It is best to assemble one day ahead so the bread has time to absorb the liquid. Lightly grease a 13x9-inch shallow baking dish. Toss broccoli, ham and cheese in a large bowl until well mixed. Spoon half the mixture evenly over bottom of prepared baking dish. Arrange bread, slices slightly overlapping, in 2 long rows on top. Spoon remaining broccoli mixture evenly over bread. In the same bowl whisk 1 egg with the mustard until well blended. Whisk in remaining eggs, the milk, onion and hot-pepper sauce until well blended. Pour evenly over dish. Sprinkle with paprika. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. To serve, heat oven to 350°F. Bake strata uncovered 35 to 45 minutes until top is lightly browned and wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean. Makes 8 servings.
