Portuguese Walnut Squares

Directions

Combine flour and baking powder on piece of wax paper. Grease and flour 9x9x2-inch-square baking pan. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in egg. Add milk, 2 tablespoons of the wine and the vanilla. Stir in flour mixture and nuts just until blended. Spoon into pan. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°) for 15 to 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Brush top of warm candy with remaining 2 tablespoons wine. Cool completely. Cut into about sixty-four 1-inch squares. Store in tin between layers of wax paper. To serve, drizzle each square with glaze. SUGAR GLAZE: Mix 1/2 cup 10X sugar and 2 teaspoons milk until drizzling consistency. cook 016
