1/2 cup shortening 1 teaspoon almond extract 1/2 cup sugar 1-?½ cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt ?½ teaspoon cinnamon ?½ teaspoon cloves 1 egg 3/4 cup raspberry or other jam Combine shortening, flavoring, and sugar. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix until crumbly. Add beaten egg, blending well. Spread half the dough in bottom of greased pan about 7x11 inches. Spread jam over batter and cover with remaining dough. Bake at 400 F. for 25 to 30 minutes. Cut in bars.
