Sticky Maple Scones

Directions

Combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine milk, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, and egg; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. (Dough will be sticky.) With floured hands, pat dough into an 8-inch round cake pan. Bake at 400° for 18 minutes or until golden. Pierce top of scones with a fork. Heat remaining syrup in a small saucepan; drizzle over scones. Cut into wedges, and serve warm. Yield: 1 dozen (serving size: 1 scone).
