In 3-quart casserole combine beef, beans and chiles. Stir in onion soup mix along with tomato sauce, beer and chili powder, Cover and bake at 350? 1-1/2 hours or until beef is tender. Meanwhile, prepare corn bread batter according to package directions. Stir in cheese. Spoon batter evenly onto hot chili and continue baking, uncovered, 25 minutes or until topping is golden. To pack for picnic, tightly wrap hot covered casserole in foil and 4 to 5 thicknesses of newspaper. Secure with tape. Makes about 8 servings. soup 11
