Triple Sec - Mary's Homemade

Directions

Zest oranges, lemons, lime and maybe grapefruit (or all orange) so you have about 1/2 cup or more

Put all the zest, cloves, but only 3 cups of the alcohol in a mason jar. Put in dark cupboard for a month or so. Shake every few days.

Strain off alcohol to another jar. Pour 2 cups of alcohol in zest jar. Let set another month or so.

Strain off alcohol to the other jar and add the last 1 cup of alcohol to zest jar. Shake then strain into other jar pressing on zest. Discard zest. This rinses the last bit of orange flavor from the zest.

Add 3 cups sugar. Shake or stir to help dissolve. Enjoy

Notes: Next time try keeping the juice from the citrus peels. Add the sugar to this and boil so it is reduced by about half. Freeze it and add to above instead of the add sugar step.
